Quick start
Follow these steps in order to go from the box to your first song launched from the LIOBOX². Each step links to the detailed page if you need more.
- The LIOBOX² and the USB cable provided.
- Your DAW installed on the computer. Ableton, Bitwig and Reaper work on macOS and Windows.
- A Mac with an internet connection for GoorooLink. GoorooLink is required for Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Cubase and QLab, and recommended for the other DAWs (firmware and script updates).
1. Connect the LIOBOX²
- Plug the LIOBOX² into the computer with the cable provided.
- On macOS, click Allow when the computer asks "Allow accessory to connect?". If Don't Allow was clicked by mistake, see LIOBOX² not detected.
To learn the pads, the knob and the ports, see the LIOBOX² description.
2. Install GoorooLink (Mac)
- Open the
.dmgfile and drag the GoorooLink shortcut to the Applications folder. - Launch GoorooLink and grant the macOS permissions it asks for (App Management and Files & Folders).
Details: Install GoorooLink.
3. Update the firmware
Always start from the latest firmware.
- Connect the LIOBOX² directly to the Mac, on its USB B port (the one recognized as "Liobox SPARE"), with no USB hub in between. Only this port allows a firmware update.
- In GoorooLink, open DEVICE → DEVICES and select your LIOBOX² in the Known Devices list.
- In the Device update section, keep the Auto mode and click Download if a newer firmware is proposed.
- Click Start Firmware Update. The update takes between 10 and 20 seconds.
Do not disconnect the LIOBOX² or let the computer go to sleep during the update.
If the update fails or hangs, see Firmware update problems. The full procedure is in Device update.
