MIDI (any DAW or instrument)
- Integration: plain MIDI over USB. No script, no GoorooLink.
- Features: pads sending Notes, Control Changes or Program Changes, and internal markers to build setlists.
- Needed: a DAW or instrument that can receive MIDI via USB.
The LIOBOX² is compatible with all MIDI DAWs that can interface MIDI devices. Select the MIDI mode in MENU → MODE.
Transport mode
Transport mode lets you use the LIOBOX² with any software or hardware that can receive MIDI over USB.
Each pad can send a Note or a Control Change to the USB port, to control a function of a DAW or an instrument.
Marker mode
Marker mode lets you build setlists directly on the LIOBOX² to navigate between songs and launch them.
For instance, this mode can be used to create preset-change setlists for instruments or autotunes.
To do so:
- Create markers on the LIOBOX² for the presets of your instruments. Markers are sorted in the order in which they were created.
- Link each marker to its preset with MIDI assignments.
- Rename the markers and move them into the order you want.
Multiple setlists can be saved. See Setlists.
Pad features
Pads can be reassigned from MENU → PAD CONFIG (see Pad config). In MIDI mode, the following features are available:
- NONE
- SELECT MARKER
- PLAY
- PAUSE
- PREVIOUS MARKER
- FAST-REWIND
- NEXT MARKER
- FAST-FORWARD
- CUSTOM MIDI
CUSTOM MIDI can send a MIDI Note, a Control Change or a Program Change, see Custom MIDI. Pads can also be triggered by an external instrument through the MIDI IN trigger.
The LIOBOX² transport functions use MIDI port 1. To avoid conflicts with the notes or CC messages they send, we advise against using MIDI channels 1 to 4 in your own assignments.
